Full Job Description

Summary

This position reports to the Shipping Manager and will assume responsibility for proper loading processes for finished goods and materials.

Responsibilities(include but are not limited to)

Receiving

  • Verify trailer with loaded goods is in food quality condition (pest evidence, no holes, etc)
  • Verify seals and truck/trailer numbers
  • Compare quantity received with quantity on paperwork
  • Verify COA (for each lot) if needed
  • Verify lot codes per quantities
  • Place items in designated receiving warehouse location
  • Proper rotation if applicable of raw materials needed for production

Shipping

  • Verify trailer with loaded goods is in food quality condition (pest evidence, no holes, etc)
  • Verify Bill of Lading and loading product are the same
  • Verify lot codes are correctly documented on Bills of Lading
  • Verify finished goods are properly rotated by FIFO

Inventory

  • Move items as needed for inventory counter to ensure accurate count is obtained
  • Follow all OSHA safety rules, GMPs, and all food safety laws and regulations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • 4 years’ forklift experience in manufacturing or distribution facilities, preferred
  • Must have experience with operating a standup forklift
  • Ability to independently, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Must work well independently and with a team
  • Good verbal/written communication skills
  • Displays responsibility for being punctual
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Mandatory quarterly overtime. Must be able to work weekends and overtime as necessary.

Primary Duties:

  • Operate Sit or stand up forklift to move product; in order to load and unload trucks
  • Utilize power or hand jack
  • Gather product based on production schedule or work order
  • Ability to read; production schedule and work orders to determine items needed
  • Sort, rack and shelve items based on size, type, style, color or product code
  • Compile paperwork from customer specifications
  • Write simple memos and communications
  • Reviews orders for accuracy
  • Help to maintain a clean and neat work environment
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirement:

  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Attention to detail is key
  • Basic math skills required
  • 2+ years order picking and pallet jack operation
  • Ability to read and comprehend information
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds
  • Previous forklift experience required

SUMMARY:

The Forklift Operator will perform shipping & receiving duties; break down freight and categorize by location; read and document pack-slips and Bills of Lading (BOL’s); load and unload freight by hand and via forklift; perform general warehouse duties as needed following terminal specific requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully complete Forklift Training Certification program
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Stock inventory
  • Palletize
  • Scan the Inbound and Outbound trucks when they load and unload
  • Log in the drivers on the Driver Log; log in the seal numbers on the Seal Log
  • Complete daily forklift checklist
  • Duties may include reassignment to alternate operational areas as business needs require
  • Essential duties are not necessarily exhaustive and may be supplemented or otherwise revised by DHL at its sole discretion

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School or equivalent training and/or least 6 months related experience preferred

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • Ability to speak English
  • Understand and carry out oral instructions; read and carry out written instructions; tickets, receiving, Bills of Lading (BOLs), graphs, logs, schedules
  • Estimate speed of moving objects
  • Count, use simple addition and subtraction
  • Operate industrial equipment including forklifts, and pallet jacks
  • Contact with other departments or people outside of this mail terminal on routine affairs, exchanging necessary information on a service or cooperative basis

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walk, push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs. (additional weight may be required with assistance)
  • This is a warehouse environment where frequently this position will be exposed to cold, hot and changing temperatures; will constantly experience noise at medium level not damaging or loud enough to require protective equipment; will frequently be exposed to dust, dirt and changes in lighting
