JOB SUMMARY:
Collections Specialists resolve overdue bills and collect payment from individuals or businesses that owe debt. As part of their job they locate individuals and businesses responsible and set up a repayment structure to ensure the financial security of their employer.
They also record contact attempts and the outcome of each call. A collections specialist is an expert communicator and facilitator who is motivated to negotiate terms for their client and the debtor in question to ensure a fair result.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in billing, customer service, or other related fields
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Find and inform customers about unpaid accounts
- Receive and post payment to customer's account
- Advise and follow-up with customers on unpaid accounts
- Initiate repossession proceedings or disconnect service
- Keep records and status of customer's account
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience using accounting software
- 2-3 years of prior high volume collections experience
- AA or BS/BA in Accounting preferred
- Ability to analyze customer accounts and make decisions based on those analyses
- Monthly Account Reconciliation experience highly preferred
- Site Collections experience
- General familiarity with account reconciliation
- Practical knowledge of bank reconciliations
- Billing experience highly desired
- Soft-pay collections experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Billing Functions
- Background working with Monthly Reconciliation
- Commercial collections experience
- Adeptness in Billing Collection
- Commercial collections experience preferred
